This synthetic alexandrite cocktail ring features an eminently wearable form, a design so genius that the best features: the protective prongs, the low set, substantial structure, the gracefully proportioned lines; all become simply a part of the overall shape of the ring! We set this mounting with a gorgeous Synthetic Alexandrite, both as the main stone and the accents, which is a color changing stone, and turns from a regal purple to a beautiful teal blue-green depending on the light that hits it!
This stone dates back to the 1950s when synthetic corundum was produced to imitate synthetic alexandrite. In the vintage and estate industry, these synthetic corundum (synthetic sapphire) gemstones from this period are almost always referred to as synthetic alexandrite even though they are chemically synthetic corundum. The chemical properties of this stone are synthetic corundum but the trade name is synthetic alexandrite.
